Why choose a female voice over artist for your audience?

Why choose a female voice over artist for your audience?

Just like when you choose any other aspect of your marketing campaign, when you select a female voice over artist, you’re choosing a voice that represents your business; in this case, literally the voice of your business.

While many may see selecting a male voice over or female voice over as a fairly trivial decision, it’s a decision that should be considered just as carefully as all of your other marketing choices, and with consideration to many of the same factors.

The first step is to define your objective. Are you:

  • aiming to sell more product to your existing customers?
  • looking to find new customers similar to your current clients?
  • trying to expand into a whole new market altogether?

Why choose a female voice over artist?

Once you have a clearly defined objective, you can then define your audience just as you would for any other marketing strategy. So, when is a female voice over talent the right voice for a business?

If your product or service is one that is used exclusively by women, a female voice over is a fairly obvious choice. No one wants to buy something from somebody who has no understanding of what they’re selling. Seriously, can you imagine a man trying to sell tampons?

Without going into a debate about how society defines women’s roles, when it comes to marketing, it’s enough to acknowledge that those roles exist and that there are many areas in which women are perceived as the primary demographic. If your business fits that bill, then your customers will likely find a female voice easier to relate to.

For the same societal reasons, women are also often viewed as being more nurturing and compassionate so products or services that revolve around health or care-giving also benefit from being presented by a female voice over artist.

Women are also seen as the primary caregivers and therefore the primary market for products and services for children. If you have something to sell to mums, other mums can be your most effective marketers, so it makes sense to have a woman as the voice of your company.

In summary, people prefer to buy a product or service from someone they can relate to and if your business’ main clientele are predominantly female, or if your product is perceived as something mostly used by women, then choosing a female voice over artist offers your customers someone with whom they can feel an affinity and, hopefully empathise with enough that they’ll be converted into a customer.

Selecting The Right Voice for Your Business

Of course, deciding between a male or female is only the first step to choosing a voice over. Other considerations include, style, tone and age, and you may even like to use both male and female voices for broader appeal.

Finding professional voice over talent for your production may be just one component of a successful media campaign, but it’s an important consideration that could mean the difference between clicks and conversions.
